About Caferağa Medresseh  

Caferağa Medresseh was built by Mimar Sinan (1559) upon the request of Cafer Agha of Babüssade during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566). The medresseh had a number of repairs, and was renovated by Turkish Cultural Service Foundation in 1987-1988. Caferaga Medresseh, which was turned into an art center where Traditional Turkish Arts are taught and handed down to next generations, continues to provide service to Turkish culture as a center where art meats with history in its 15 classrooms/exhibition rooms, a big salon and a garden.

In the calm, peaceful yard and rooms of our medresseh, we welcome our guests with unique flavors of Turkish cuisine.

Souvenir Shop

Caferaga Medresseh that is located on the historical peninsula has an important role in the cultural mosaic of Istanbul with its art events and traditional-contemporary art work sales in the Medresseh and Caferiye (Sinan Erdebili) Lounge Art Gallery.

In this historical atmosphere where art finds life, we contribute to the training of young artists by making Traditional Turkish Arts more popular.

Caferaga Medresseh is closed on Mondays.
